Due to the Covid-19 pandemic andin order to follow current guidelines set by the ADA and CDA, you may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. Rest assured, Dentistry has always been at the forefront of infection control, and we are taking additional steps to ensure our patients’ and staff’s safety and allow for an effective treatment environment. Among these steps are:
- Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions.
- Upon arrival, you will be asked those same questions again and your temperature will be taken. If your temperature is above 100°F, we will kindly ask that you reschedule the appointment.
- We will ask you to wear a mask when entering our office and offer hand sanitizer in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
- We will ask you to minimize the number of people accompanying you to your appointment. At this time, we are asking only the individual who has an appointment to come to the office, unless the patient is a minor or needs assistance.
- We have acrylic barrier shields at the counter, and we have removed all the magazines to eliminate that as a source of cross contamination.
- Appointments will be scheduled to allow for physical distancing between patients.
- We are introducing a “Wait where you are comfortable” policy.
- All operatories will be disinfected between every patient with a fogging machine that sprays a fine mist of disinfectant into the air to kill viruses as well as physically bring to ground any aerosolized water droplets potentially containing any viruses. This policy is more stringent than the current standard of care.
- A large powerful air suction will be used whenever any aerosol producing procedures are being performed. To minimize aerosol, it is placed near the patient’s mouth and suctions aerosol directly from the oral area and is brought through two HEPA filters and a powerful sanitizing UV-C light before exiting as clean air. This policy is more stringent than the current standard of care.
- We are minimizing the use of the traditional ultrasonic cleaning equipment to reduce the amount of aerosolization in the operatory. You can be sure that we will be maintaining the same high standard of cleaning with our hand scalers.
